I am a third-year student in the Department of Language and Intercultural Studies. To me, research means following the instinct of my curiosity, asking questions, collaborating with equally curious individuals, and through intricate paths and intense intellectual confusion, getting closer and closer to knowledge and new ways of thinking about the world. When I began to understand what linguistic landscape research is during the spring of 2022 through the course “Migration and Identities,” I was thrilled by the fact that space, especially public space, can carry so many intertwined meanings, and I had not previously considered how all these slogans, graffiti, stickers, etc., could be studied scientifically. The person who initially inspired me to engage with the paths of research is – and continues to be – my professor, Roula Kitsiou. In the meantime, on my thesis, I have been engaged in a multimodal critical discourse analysis of political cartoons on X/Twitter about the Israel-Palestine war in 2023, while at the same time my research interests evolve and change from time to time, including critical discourse analysis, the study of multimodal texts, linguistic landscape analysis and recently I started exploring, in the context of the VLLRG group’s activities, rhizomic/rhizomatic approaches to the study of language and education. But besides all these, I love theatre, music and I love the summer sea. I have an addictive relationship with coffee and I am very enthusiastic about philosophy and generally anything that pushes thinking towards new paths.
